Review notes

The Tineco S9 Artist Steam is a highly capable wet and dry vacuum with a stunning design, but its significant cost undermines its overall value. Its steam mode effectively lifts tough, dried-on stains like ketchup faster than standard auto mode, and the motorized wheels make its considerable 7kg weight manageable. However, the anti-hair tangle brush disappointed, failing to prevent tangles with long hair strands. If you prioritize aesthetics and steam cleaning performance over budget, this vacuum is a strong contender. However, if value for money and perfect hair tangle-free performance are critical, you should explore other options like the Roborock F25 Ultra.

What the reviewer liked

  • Stunning and unique design with a streamlined appearance
  • Informative and aesthetically pleasing 3D dynamic display screen with animations and countdown timers
  • Motorized wheels significantly assist in pushing and pulling, making it easy to maneuver despite its weight
  • Excellent edge cleaning capabilities, getting extremely close to the edge
  • Steam mode effectively loosens and lifts dried-on grime, dirt, and grease, improving dirt lift without harsh chemicals
  • Good battery life: up to 75 minutes runtime (30 minutes in Steam mode)
  • Fast charging: full charge in about 2 hours
  • Effective self-cleaning cycle for the brush roll
  • Clean water tank at the base provides a lower center of gravity and aids cleaning pressure

What the reviewer criticised

  • Strikingly heavy (7 kg with full water tank, 5.6 kg empty)
  • Anti-hair tangle brush was not 100% tangle-free in stress tests with long hair
  • Self-drying session is loud and the brush roll was not 100% dry after 5 minutes
  • Cannot trigger a 5-minute drying-only session; forced to run 3-minute session (which is insufficient) or a cleaning cycle first
  • Poor value for money compared to competitors, often more expensive for similar or fewer features
  • Solid debris filter in the dirty water tank does an "okay" job, with some debris falling through
